The Story

Beldi — the original Moroccan black soap — has been at the centre of the hammam ritual for centuries. Made with olive oil and macerated olives, it is not a soap in the conventional sense: it softens the skin over time, then releases everything the skin has been holding onto — dead cells, impurities, the invisible weight of the week. Used with a kessa glove, the results are visible immediately. We source this directly from Morocco, where it is still made the original way. Your bathroom becomes a hammam.

The Ritual

1. Steam or soften skin in a warm shower for at least 5 minutes first.
2. Apply a generous layer of Beldi soap all over the body.
3. Leave for 3–5 minutes to allow the olive oil to penetrate.
4. Use a kessa glove to scrub — the skin will release in rolls. This is supposed to happen.
5. Rinse clean. What remains is the softest skin you have had in months.
